Odi massacre: Anyone with tribal marks on their chest was slaughtered, corpses littered everywhere –Bolou, former Bayelsa commissioner

Over 18 years ago, precisely on November 20, 1999, the Nigerian military, acting on the orders of then President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, invaded Odi, a predominantly Ijaw community in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, and wreaked monumental havoc on the community.

Don’t free me, prison inmate begs court

There was a mild drama at Ekwulobia prisons in Anambra State on Friday when an inmate, Tobias Mbaekwe, who was granted amnesty by Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi, on health grounds, declined the pardon.

Mbaekwe, from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state, was among 13 others freed in the exercise.
