The association of professional bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Anambra chapter has called on the Anambra state government to arrest the issue of incessant building collapse in the state.
It urged the state government not to pay lip service to the challenges that has claimed many lives of innocent citizens.
It wants the government to put up stringent measure stipulation what eavh builder must meet up before erecting any structure in the state .
The association made this known in their quarterly meeting held in Awka, dismissed the speculation that the state soil texture contributes to the collapse of building in the state .Speaking to journalists in Awka, the chairman of the association Dr. Akolisa Ezeagu expressed optimism that if the government could institute policy that will mandate developers to patronize qualified engineers, it promised it will end the colapse boiling saga in the state He requests the state government to complete the already open up roads projects before embarking on new ones.
Akolisa advocates for a Public Private Partnership PPP between the state government and its citizens to partner her in the area of massive road construction and rehabilitation.
The union in their submission requests the state government to revisit the issue behind the construction of Cargo airport at Umueri, due to its importance to the people of Anambra as people who are mainly into commercial activities..
Akolisa added in his submission that the state government should redirect its energy to revive the orient petroleum in Anamrba East and West a;GAs, suggesting the government should set up committee on production activities and provide solution to the lag in the non functional of the oil exploration company.
