South council of Traditional Rulers Urge President Buhari to Intervene
Following
the controversy surrounding the endless litigation between the Chairman of the
Innoson Group, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) and the guarantee Trust Bank Plc, Anambra South Council of
Traditional Rulers have appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene.
The traditional
rulers feel saddened at the continuous harassment of one of their sons, Mr. Innocent
Chukwuma over business transactions with the GTB bank and the regrettable
approach put up by the EFCC on the matter, desiring the president to use his
executive office to mediate, so as to douse the tension been created in the
minds of many people in the South east zone on what they described as an unending
legal battle between the duo.
Speaking on
behalf of the traditional ruler’s council, the chairman of the group berates
the conduct of the Anti-Graft commission who they alleged maltreated the
vehicle manufacturers as a common criminal.
They appealed
to the president to call the chairman of the commission to order, requesting
that the Anti-graft agency should accord respect to some Nigerians who have
carved a niche for themselves individually in the bid to grow the nation’s
economy.
While
expressing their grieve individually on the matter, over what they tagged as
the height of dehumanization handling of
the industrialist by the Anti-graft agency, the traditional rulers said the nation and
Africa should be proud of the industrialist’s, proficiency, who according to
them broke the disturbing narrative of over dependence on foreign materials for
survival in Nigeria.
The group
also condemned the alleged attack on the attorney of the automobile
industrialist, McCarthy Mbadugha , an action the jointly denounce, urging
presidency to act speedily to address the impasse.
