Police parade 33 suspects, promise to prosecute them soonest


Inspector General of Police (IG), Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the immediate recovery of two AK47 riffles and a Berretta pistol allegedly snatched from slain police officers and others by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of  Biafra (IPOB) in Nnewi during a protest last week.


The Force Police Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Jimoh Moshood, made this known in Awka Sunday evening while parading 33 suspected members of IPOB the Anambra command .

The Nigerian police boss say he will not relent on its oars to rid the country of all crime and criminality.
The force public relations officer of police, Moshood Jimoh gave the hint at a media briefing in Awka, while parading the 33 suspects, suspected to tbe memebrs of the proscribed indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB).
Parading the suspects at the police command, Amawbia, the force Public relations officer condemned the attack on the police officers by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), adding that the force has directed the state commissioner of police to commence intensive surveillance to enable them retrieved the two AK-47 Riffles and ammunition allegedly stolen by the protesting group.

While narrating efforts put up by the joint military operatives to quell the attack of the proscribed group to forestall breakdown of peace, law and order, the force Spokesman regretted that the group would divert their attack and face the men of the Nigeria police force. Noting that such action would not deter the force from protecting lives and property of the citizenry.

He vowed that the force will ensure all perpetrators behind the heinous act would be brought to justice, while assuring lawful citizens of the state to go about their lawful duties unmolested.
Speaking in defense of the allegation, the suspects who spoke to journalists  narrate their,  claiming they were wrongly  apprehended by the police .

It would be recalled that the Indegenous People of Biafra group was proscribed by the south east governors in Sepctember 2017, while operation by the group has since been described as unlawful until the proscription case is vacated by a court of competent jusrisidction.
