The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works has commended the Contracting Firm handling the construction of Uzoakwa-Oseakwa-road with a spur to Oluoha Okechukwu road in Ihiala Local Government Area for working according to specification.

The committee made the commendation when it inspected the ongoing road project as part of its oversight responsibilities.

The committee which spoke through its Chairman, Dr. Ikechukwu Umeh observed that, earth work is going on at the project site while construction of drains is in progress.

State government says it is poised to complete and commission the one hundred and seventy-six active road construction and rehabilitation sites in the state.

The Commissioner for Road Infrastructure, Furniture and Maintenance, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, disclosed this on Oge Odimma Anambra, an ABS phone in- programme.

Giving a break- down of ongoing road construction sites across the state, Engineer Ifejiofor, noted that the present administration was committed to ensuring that contractors handling the road projects remain focused on delivering maximum output.

Second Niger Bridge: FG Tasked On Early Completion

The Federal Government has been urged to send a supplementary budget to the National Assembly to recapture the budgetary allocations made for the second Niger bridge and completion of the Terminal Building at Enugu Airport .
Speaking to Journalists in Awka, the state president of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke - Ogene said the reduction of the budgetary allocation for such critical infrastructure is unacceptable and not in the best interest of the people.

The Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Art Works, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo made the call at the Grand Reception of Anambra-born Miss Africa World, Queen Uche Umeagukwu.
Queen Umeagukwu, an indigene of Uga in Aguata Local Government Area is the reigning queen of the California, USA based Miss Africa World Beauty Pageantry and a champion of the campaign to grant out-of-school children access to education.
