Over one thousand four hundred pensioners from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara stateS have been screened in the ongoing verification exercise by the Pension Transition Arrangement Directorate PTAD
This is revealed by the PTAD director Parastatal Pension Department Sulayman Shelleng in Sokoto one of the designated venue for the exercise.
He says the six day exercise is taking place simultaneously across various centres in the north West region and it was aimed at reducing pensioners’ burden of transportation and other hardship by ensuring that centers are brought closer to their state of residence..
Mr. Shelleng says, this will enable PTAD to have a comprehensive, accurate and reliable database for pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
He believes the database will be used to address irregularities in the system, including ghost pensioners, duplicate payments, over and under payments among other needs.
The exercise covers all pensioners that retired from Federal Government service before 2007 and are eligible for the compilation where they would provide all the necessary documents and present themselves for biometric computation.
Next phase of verification exercise in the series will be conducted before the end of the year at designated places across the country and pensioners can be verified at any center of choice and not only at state of retirement.
