Labour Leaders meet separately with minister to discuss minimum wage

Organised Labour team and the Government side of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council have met separately with the Minister of Labour and Employment,
Chris Ngige.
The meetings were part of efforts to resolve the lingering dispute over the consequential adjustment of the National Minimum Wage and avert the looming nationwide strike.


 A statement from the ministry says the  meetings were Collective Bargaining negotiations and afforded  both parties the opportunity to share vital information, especially critical statistics to allay fears as well as address all encumbrances against the attainment of a common position.

Representing the Organised  Labour  were the Deputy Chairman of  the NLC,  Amaechi Asugwuni, NLC General Secretary, Emma Ugboaja, Musa Lawal Ozigi and Nuhu Toro, both of TUC, Lawal Bashir and Musa Abba

On the government side were the Minister of State for Budget and Planning, Clem Agba, Head of Service of the Federation,  Folashade Yemi-Esan, Permanent Secretary Ministry, Labour and Employment, William Alo, Director General of the Budget Office, Ben Akabueze, Acting Chairman of the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission, Ekpo Nta and a Director from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,  Garba Mamman.

The meeting continues on Tuesday.
