Since many people are of the opinion that power should shift to the South Senatorial zone of Anambra state, having former Governor Peter Obi from the central who served for eight years and Governor Willie Obiano from this North, who will complete his tenure by 2022..
Many people are of the opinion that it should be zoned to the Southern part of the state.
Another school of thought too have device the idea that Two out of the three major subdivisions in the zone should be given the opportunity to produce the next Governor.
There is no doubt that Ihiala zone in Anambra South had produced Governor under Former Governor Mmadinuju, living Old Aguata region and Old Nnewi Region respectively.
We should also remember that Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife also hails from the Old Aguata region while Senator Andy Uba who was elected as Governor for 17 days after the Supreme Court ruled that former Governor Peter Obi should be allowed to compete his Full four years term as governor of the state.
Senator Andy Uba too hails from the old Aguata region of Anambra south senatorial zone.
Another pundits submit that the 6 months slot that former Governor Peter Obi was impeachment and Dr. Virgie Etiaba was made Governor too should be counted as a slot for the Nnewi region of Anambra South.
The general view now pose it that, which sub-region under the Anambra south Senatorial zone should be expressly considered to produce the next governor of Anambra state?
Should the old Nnewi that command three large local government areas of Nnewi North and South and Ekwusigo be considered to produce the next Governor, haven not had the opportunity to lead unless the impeachment slot that they got through Dr. Virgie Etiaba.
Others are tipping the old Agauta as their preferred Subdivision to produce the next Governor, not because it has same number of LGAs with the Old Nnewi zone, like Agauta, Orumba North and South, where Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife served for about two years under the military administration and Senator Andy Uba, who was duly elected into office in 2007, but his hope was dashed when the Supreme Court asked him to vacate his office, stating there was no case for INEC then to organise any election.
Ihiala zone is a one local government subdivision and has had it near fair share as Governor, under Dr. Mmabadinuju, but his reelection was stalled as his administration was allegedly marred with criticism and non payment of teachers salaries for about a year.
General opinion gathered now has it that gender differences should not be a barrier, but are of the opinion that individual antecedents and disposition to impact on the wellbeing of the masses plus a good moral standi that will build, continue and completes the giant stride developmental works, commenced by the former Governor Senator. Chris Ngige, consolidated upon by Former Governor Peter Obi and crowned now by the serving Governor Willie Obiano.
The die is cast and the people are anxiously shopping for a more credible candidate that will take the state to the next level, in term of socioeconomic development, who according to many will also sustain and build upon the paste, because Anambra , being the pride of many states should continue getting it right by electing a right leader to move the state to the next level.
