Man inhumanity to his follow man is given a heads up through the activities of scrupulous individuals with evil mindset, bringing in counterfeit, unwholesome, fake, substandard products even arms and ammunition into the society just to make gains without recourse on
their impact to societal health and peace. This activities were what Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Anambra State chapter were combatting for a safer society.
Speaking to news men at their corporate headquarter in Onitsha, the IMAN chairman Anambra state Comr. Emeka Ojukwu warned scrupulous individuals importing goods into the country and the state in particular to desist from importing fake, adulterated, unwholesome products, arms and ammunition into the country as these acts are negatively portraying the image of IMAN in bad light to the federal and state governments. He stated that the destruction of the IMAN image cannot go unchallenged as the association special taskforce are working perfectly with the security agencies to bring down the activities of such individuals. He advise the importers to be law abiding, following the ethics and code of conduct guiding the association.
Comr. Emeka Ojukwu asked Importers to identify and support IMAN for a positive coverage of their corporate activities against harsh policies of extortion against their businesses.
He added that government should give importers soft landing bills that will necessitate proper payment of levies not excess charges to the states internally generated revenue ministries.
The IMAN chairman regretted the payment of container levy by its members across different locations in the state. This he said is extortion as they have being paying heavy duty charges to the government.
