A pressure group, Tinubu Support Group (TSM), said it has uncovered plans by some politicians within the ruling party and the opposition to smear the name of the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu before President Muhammad Buhari ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The National Coordinator of the group, Hon. Sani Adamu who disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Monday said that the public space has been bombarded with coordinated attacks by some undisclosed persons to smear the credentials and personality of the APC national leader.
According to the group, “with recent events in the public space, we are dismayed at the coordinated deliberate attacks, assaults and attempt to smear the unassailable credentials and personaliy of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“It is with utmost disbelief that we see sponsored politically orchestrated campaign of calumny by enemies of united Nigeria and our striving democracy targeted at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in their devilish attempt to instigate chaos and breakdown of law and order for their selfish goals.
“We are not unmindful of fabrication of fake news and falsehood to rubbish and smear the name of Senator Ahmed Tinubu before President Buhari and the good people of Nigeria. Patriotic Nigerians will not be deceived by enemies of the state and political marauders who are frightened and intimidated by political credentials of our role model. We are not unaware of the plots by “these political neophytes” who see Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a threat to their political ambitions against 2023. The ambition, our political leader has not even declared interest for.”
Though the group admitted that the choice of who becomes the president is solely the right of Nigerian electorates but maintained that the will of the Nigerian people will prevail when the time comes as regards 2023 presidential contest.
“This is also to inform the general public that our group ”Tinubu Support Movement” will exercise our fundamental rights to wholeheartedly support the ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu with our support base, networks and resources across the 36 states and FCT when he eventually declare his interest for the seat of the President of Nigeria come 2023.
“It is also important to warn enemies of democracy and political marauders who feel threatened by potential of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to desist from harassing and tarnishing the image of Asiwaju built over the years. We will resist and frustrate by any legitimate means further campaign of calumny and propaganda to smear our leader and role model.
“We also wish to categorically state that we are fully in support of an update and expansion of the current APC register, as directed by Mr President, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. We sincerely thank Mr President for his exemplary leadership.
