Hon. (Dr) Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi (Ochiagha Idemili), former member of House of Representatives has called for unity among the faithfuls of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) as they prepare for the November 2, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.
Addressing members of Reality Movement, his political organization at his Abatete residence, Ibezi said that even though there are tough challenges ahead but he is highly optimistic that APGA will emerge victorious at the November 6 polls. “APGA is more than a political party. It’s a grassroots movement whose members are passionate. Whatever challenges there are, APGA will by the grace of God win again”, he said. He described as mischievous the rumors that he’s about to leave APGA. “I can’t labor to help to build a party and leave it for intruders and strangers. APGA is in me. The party is big enough to accommodate all interests”, he said adding that those who are peddling this rumor are intimidated by his political credentials. He charged members to rededicate themselves to the ideals of the party and remain steadfast. He donated N1m each to APGA Idemili North, APGA Idemili South, Oganiru Women Initiative, Idemili Youth Development Initiative and Diamond Ladies to help these bodies to renovate their offices, mobilize members and reactivate political activities at their different wards. He announced the setting up of a 22-man committee to organize an empowerment rally for Idemili federal constituency sometime in May, 2021. Another committee to engage with critical stakeholders was also set up. “In spite of the setback, I will continue to find a way to fulfill the promises I made to Umu Idemili. We are going to empower some of our ardent followers at the rally being planned”, he said.
The meeting had many party stakeholders in attendance. Notable among attendees were the two APGA Local Government chairmen in Idemili North and South, Chief Kentus Onwurah (Ichie Egbu) and Chief Joe Ezeanya (Ukwuata) respectively, Chief Tony Onyima (Ife Idemili), a former Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, APGA BoT member and CEO Rojenny Tourist and Games village, Oba, Hon.
