Akwa Ibom NDLEA partners NSCDC to sustain war against Drug abuse



National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency Akwa Ibom state has attributed about 90 percent of increasing crimes to the abuse and consumption of illicit substances by the youths.




The state commander of NDLEA Mrs. Obot Bassey  made this public when she received it audience the new commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil.Dedence.Corps.(NSCDC) Abidemi Majekodunmi n Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.


She lamented that hard drugs were discovered to had fueled various crimes in society, which calls for a renewed synergy between security agents with vigour to enable them win the war against illicit substance abuse.



"Law enforcement is a networking system it is a kind you synergise to achieve common goals"


"Where we are in Akwa Ibom, drugs consumption and trafficking,  is a major problem"

"Most importantly the vulnerable are the youths, and the building block of any crime anywhere are drugs".


Mrs. Obot called for synergy between the two agencies in the area of intelligence guardering, information sharing mechanism to achieve a common goal.


"Any scenario you see drugs, the probability to commit crimes are imminent which is at 90 percent".

" You couldn't have come at a better time, I had very good working relationship with your predecessor and am sure I will have same with you in the area of Intelligence guardering, information sharing mechanism as well as to achieve our goals which is prima facie".


The event was climaxed with demonstration of assurance by the two agencies of government, with the zeal to step up their games in ensuring that illicit substance abuse is curbed to the nearest minimum.
