Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, not opposed to Restructuring, says Reps. Spokesman

 


The House of Representatives has described as misleading news reports that Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila was opposed to Southern Governors' call for restructuring of the country.

This is contained in a statement issued by its Spokesman,  Benjamin Kalu, on Friday. 

Police Arrest couple For Caging, Starving A Twelve Year Old Girl For Eight Months In Sokoto

Sokoto state police command has arrested a couple for allegedly caging and starving a twelve year old girl in their care for eight months. 

The suspects who are living in Sokoto Cinema area in Sokoto north local government within the metropolis .


Sources close to the area say, the girl was caged and starved for about eight month by her aunty who hails from Akwa Ibom with the consent of her husband.


Neighbours in the area who  noticed the inhuman treatment of the girl reported the matter to Dadinkowa police station in the area.

A security source says, the woman a mother of three, claimed the victim is mentally ill, but a check at a medical facility prove otherwise.

According to the source, the case will be transferred to the state police headquarters and the suspects may  possibly be handed over  to NAPTIP for prosecution.

When contacted, the Sokoto state police command public relations Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police  Abubakar Sanusi confirmed the confirmed to our correspondent. 


He says the police have the suspects in custody and are investigating the matter and the general public will be briefed through the media of the next line of action on the matter.

Fire guts Enugu INEC office


The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Aliyu has ordered full scale investigation into the fire outbreak that gut Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Obollo-Afor office in Udenu local government area of the state.

This time around, it is Enugu State, where the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the State, Emeka Ononamadu, has reported that the INEC office in Udenu Local Government Area was set ablaze.

 The Second in Command to the neutralised IPOB/ESN Terrorist leader Ikonso, Awurum Eze, has been arrested by security operatives in Aba, Abia State.
