Just in: Delta state govt shuts school after a pupil was flogged to death



The Delta State Government has closed a private school, Arise and Shine nursery and primary school in the state capital Asaba after the death of a  pupil, Obinna Udeze.

The 19-month old victim died from injuries he sustained after  a teacher in the school, Emeka Nwogbo, who reportedly flogged him on Monday.


 The little boy was said to have fallen ill after the incident and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, but his is health condition worsened until he eventually died on Saturday morning.



The Delta State Commissioner for Basic Education, Chika Ossai who sealed off the school said it is not approved by the state government and the  proprietor does not have an operational licence.


Meanwhile, the accused teacher is currently in police custody as investigation is ongoing. The Delta State Police Command public relations officer, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrests, says investigation into the incident has started
