The Director of Social Communications of the Catholic Diocese of Awka and the Digital Director of Fides Media Limited, Rev Fr Martin Anusi recently blessed the new 18-seater bus donated by Governor Willie Obiano to Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Anambra State Council.
The Fides Boss who blessed the operational vehicle during the maiden Congress of the Union at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Centre, Awka, charged NUJ executive to make optimal use of the gift, assuring them of his continued support and prayers.
Reverend Father Martin Anusi enjoined all to support the new leadership of the council for the growth of the union.
The Congress witnessed the inauguration of various Sub-committees with a view to accelerating growth and progress of the Union.
Inaugurating the committees, the Chairman of the union Dr. Emeka Odogwu, said they had two weeks to streamline their activities and work for the council with utmost dedication to enable the new leadership achieve its agenda.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for the new bus donated to the union, describing him as media friendly.
In his speech, the guest speaker and Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, who assured that the University would always sustain the already existing relationship with members of the NUJ in Anambra State extolled Governor Obiano for building the Anambra International Cargo and Passengers airport, which he described as one of the major legacies of his administration.
The Managing Director and Editor in Chief of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, Publishers of National Light Mr. Chuka Nnabuife, the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, and Former Acting Registrar Federal Polytechnic Oko, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu, the Editor-in-chief of Fides Newspaper, Hon Jude Atupulazi commended the giant strides recorded so far in the union, calling for its sustenance.
Fides reports that over twenty committees were inaugurated at the congress, with the Chairmaship Candidate in the just concluded Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council's Election and the immediate past State Treasurer of NUJ, Comrade Sir Mmadubuchi Onwumelu, KSJI, Anipr) heading the Labour relations Committee.
