Federal High Court. has adjourned the continue hearing of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu till 26th of May, 2022.
The court earlier resolved to discontinue with the amended charge of 6 count to the initial 7 count charge against the defendant.
The judge argued that the condition of Nnamdi Kanu disappearance must the heard before his bail condition would be heard.
The court disagreed with the defendant that he escaped out of the country when Nigerian armed soldiers allegedly invaded his ancestral home in Abia State.
On the amended count charge Justice Binta Nyako held that the prosecution can not at every opportunity decide to amend the charge of the defendant
Although provisions of ACJA allows for amendment of charge at any point of the trial , there must be a stop to it.
This amendment will be sixth amendment made by the prosecution
Court adjourns till 26th May 2022.
