The deputy governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress
Olaniyan made this declaration in an interaction with journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

He said the decision came in yielding to the yearnings of his supporters who were tired of waiting after remaining afloat in the PDP, for a while.
Rauf noted that the defection did not in any way affect his relationship with the state governor, Seyi Makinde, adding that he remained as the Deputy Governor of the state.
