Yuletide: EEDC urges energy bill payment, offers 30% discount on outstanding arrears

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has urged South-East residents to pay up their current electricity charge and outstanding arrears, if any, to avoid being disconnected during the yuletide

The Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr Emeka Ezeh, made the call on Thursday in Enugu while interacting with newsmen on special offers of the company to its customers this yuletide.

Ezeh said that as part of efforts to ensure that its customers enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the company had commenced network maintenance works to deliver reliable power supply before, during and after the period.

He reminded its customers that the energy bills for December, which is for energy consumed in the month of November, had been distributed, adding that the company was appealing to its customers to pay on time to avoid disconnection.

The EEDC spokesman appreciated the cooperation the customers had extended to the company and affirmed that the company could only sustain its operations and continue to provide good services to its customers when energy bills are paid.

According to him, cash is the raw material which we need for the day-to-day running of our business; and our various teams are already out for this month’s revenue drive and urge our customers to cooperate and give them maximum support.

Ezeh called on customers with outstanding arrears to take advantage of the Arrears One-Time Settlement (OTS) Scheme which is ending on Dec. 31, 2022 and enjoy 30 per cent Discount.

He said: “The OTS Scheme is an initiative introduced by EEDC to assist customers defrays their accumulated arrears.

“Both commercial and residential customers, bulk communities, metered and un-metered customers are eligible for this discount scheme.

“Interested customers are to visit the “OTS Coordinator” at the district office responsible for the area they are residing or call our 24/7 Call Center on 084700100 for further inquiries.”

He, however, felicitated with the entire South-East residents in the spirit of the yuletide, adding: “We appreciate you for your generous support and patronage throughout the year”.
