Comrade Kennedy Iyere, founder of Civil Society Committee for Anti-Fraud Election Security (CISCAES), has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do the needful by declaring Dr Peter Mbah, the PDP Governorship Candidate, the winner of the poll.
Iyere made the call in Enugu on Monday while protesting the continued delay of INEC in declaring Mbah the rightful and due winner of the poll.
He noted that INEC delay in announcing Mbah winner might be a subtle call for anarchy in the state, which would be a great regret.
Iyere, who is also the convener of 40-Million Ballots Movement and Humanitarian activist, said: “Since Dr Peter Mbah has the highest lawful and valid vote, he should be declared the winner without further delay.
“The opposition LP has an alternative, which is seeking redress in the court where they will lay their complaints and allegations for the court to see clear if they even have a case in the first place.
“We all must give peace a chance. I call on INEC and LP to give peace a chance.
Iyere noted that just like what happened at the nationally election collation centre, Abuja, LP members should seek for their day in court and not take to the streets.
“This act of calling youths and adults that should know the rules to take to the street is undemocratic and uncivilized,” he said.
Meanwhile, the members of PDP in Enugu State trooped out in their numbers, not minding their social status, to protest against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The PDP members in their hundreds were protesting that INEC should not delay declaring its candidate Dr Peter Mbah winner of the March 18 Governorship poll.
It would be recalled that INEC adjourned the process of final collation of result and possible announcement of the governorship election result by 8a.m. Monday, March 20.
But as at the time of filing this report, INEC was yet to resume its election collation and announcement activities at INEC Collation Centre, Enugu as it promised by 8a.m. this morning, March 20.
