Following the successful inauguration of ALHAJI Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Anambra State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Surveyor Comrade Obi Emeka Chukwudi has congratulated the new Nigeria’s President, tasking him to commit to the true tenets of nation-building.
Tinubu was on Monday, 29th May, 2023, at the Eagle’s Square, Abuja, administered with the oath of office by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, as Nigeria’s President for the next four years, alongside his Vice, Kashim Shettima.
In a congratulatory message, the Anambra NYCN Chairman, Surveyor Obi maintained that having been sworn in, the task that lies ahead for President Tinubu, is to work towards peace, unity and stability of the nation.
Obi noted that Nigeria as at today, is fraught with all manner of socio-economic problems such as insecurity, tribalism, nepotism, with many regions complaining of marginalization and unfair treatment by the government at the centre.
According to him, no meaningful development can happen in an atmosphere of these strife, insecurity and distrust.
“In the various parts of Nigeria, we hear stories of terrorism, banditry, secessionist movements, corruption, marginalisation and many other negative tendencies.
“These attributes are in contrast with efforts at development and cohesion, especially for a nation like Nigeria with multiple ethnic groups, diverse culture and religion, as well as varying views and perceptions,” said Obi.
He said President Tinubu must concentrate efforts at building trust and confidence in government, as well as across tribal lines.
The Anambra youth leader also tasked the new President to take strategic steps towards youth empowerment, as a way of reducing the population that venture into crime and criminalities.
In his opinion, if a greater percenter of the youth population, which constitute the higher quotient of the nation’s numbers, are empowered to be self-reliant, then the nation would have succeeded in reducing crime significantly.
Obi also believes forging a better with the private sector by creating a conducive environment for them to operate, will ensure that ample jobs are created for young Nigerian school leavers.
The Anambra NYCN boss also called for youth inclusion in the governance of the country under the new administration, to ensure that the nation does not lack the leadership stock for the future.
