UNN veterinary alumni pledge to assist alma mater to attract funds for infrastructural development

 


Alumni from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) have pledged to use their connections to attract funds nationally and internationally to UNN, their alma mater, for rapid infrastructural development

Dr Ejike Oji, a Guest Lecturer and an Alumus, made the pledge in Nsukka on Friday when the alumni members paid a courtesy visit to Vice-Chancellor of UNN, Prof Charles Igwe, in his office.

Oji said they were in the university, from different parts of the country and every part of the World, for their maiden alumni homecoming and conference in Faculty of Veterinary to interact as well as know the needs of the faculty.

He pledged to use their connections to attract funds nationally and international to address infrastructural deficit in UNN.

“We are not happy on level of infrastructural deficits in our alma mater when we have alumni who are occupying strategic positions nationally and internationally.

“What we need from the university is to put in place necessary measures that will enable her to access such funds.

“UNN as the premier university in the country should lead other universities both in academics and infrastructural, development”he said.

In a remark Prof Chinedu Eze the Dean of the Faculty, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for always given the faculty special attention and support in the university.

“The faculty is grateful to your management for the special love and support.

“The faculty and its alumi will continue to cooperate and collaborate with UNN management to move the university to greater height,”he said.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Prof Pat Okpoko, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, commended the alumni for the homecoming that would enable them know the state of infrastructural development in their alma mater.

The VC promised to give the alumni the necessary cooperation to enable the university to access whatever funds the alumni would attract nationally and internationally.

“Majority of the best ranking universities in the world like Oxford, Harvard are funded and equipped by their alumni,” he said.
