The new Anambra State Coordinator, World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Bonos Mohammed together with his team has paid an advocacy visit to the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA), Pharm Chisom Uchem at her office in Awka.
Pharm Uchem expressing gratitude to the Anambra State WHO team, thanked the new State Coordinator for visiting the Agency while welcoming him to Anambra State; the Light of the Nation.
She noted that the State had just concluded its retreat with the State Government, where the Governor,, Prof Chukwuma Soludo outlined his second year activities in-line with his manifesto on health.
``In Anambra, we are a team as your predecessor- Dr Adamu Abdulnasiru left a formidable team and with your coming on board, we hope to win the PHC Leadership Challenge which has various indicators."
She thanked WHO for their support toward the Agency’s activities/programmes in 2023, asking for their continued support in 2024.
The Executive Secretary, expressing her appreciation noted that the Agency and its facilities were opened for continued collaborations as they would do all in their capacity to ensure that the State and its health sector always move forward.
The new Anambra WHO State Coordinator, Dr Muhammad noted that his predecessor, Dr Abdulnasiru and his team had done a good job in the State.
``We will continue the work in-line with achieving Universal Health Coverage and protection from health emergencies as we want to ensure a healthy life for all. All these will be done in-line with health priorities of Anambra State.
``WHO Nigeria always work with government priorities and we can support the Government in identifying its health priorities through the use of Data and other evidences. This will enable us to achieve our health for all goal.
``One key approach to achieving this is the collaboration with Primary Healthcare Sector as we ask for access to communities and its health facilities," he said.
The WHO Assistant Public Health Officer, Mrs Uju Ojiagu noted that with the new WHO State Coordinator who had been in the system for a long time, the State would continue to do better as they would technically be supporting as the State takes the lead.
