Cultism Must End In Awka -- Anambra CP

In a decisive move to end the resurgent cult-related killings in Awka, Capital City of Anambra State, the Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its avowed commitment to stamp out cultism and cultists completely from the state capital Awka. 

The Police Commissioner in the state, CP Aderemi Adeoye who expressed this commitment following the tracked down and arrest of no fewer than 16 notorious cultists involved in recent cult-clashes, maintained that Awka must enjoy a tranquil atmosphere and that the Police is not relenting in ensuring that public peace is guaranteed in the state capital.


A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command SP Ikenga Tochukwu has it that apart from the 16 suspects arrested, 21 others who are now on the run have been declared wanted by the State Police Command.


The statement says that the arrested  cultists who were nabbed  during series of intelligence-led manhunt have been detained on the orders  of the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye.


It said the CP has vowed that cultists responsible for the spate of killings after the State Capital had enjoyed tranquillity for unbroken 6 months period must pay for their crimes.


The State  Police boss has also charged the Special Anti Cult Squad (SPACS) to redouble its effort and hunt down those who are still at large among the identified cultists.


The Police Commissioner also called on Community and Religious leaders to speak out against the evil of cultism in the society.
