BY RAYMOND OZOJI,  Awka

The transition committee chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Engr. Anayochukwu Orjiakor has assured citizens of the council area that insecurity will be a thing of the past.

Orjiakor who was confirmed by the House of Assembly recently and returned again as the Local Government Chairman, said efforts were being made to ensure that Ihiala people slept with their two eyes closed devoid of disturbances.

The TC chairman who spoke exclusively with this journalist Raymond Ozoji, said this time no stone would be left unturned especially as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has said that he will support the people of Ihiala to  fight insecurity to the end.

He said he will relate as well as consult with stakeholders of Ihiala Local Government Area to ensure that the council area is set free from hoodlums disrupting public peace.

Apart from tackling insecurity, the TC chairman said that human capital development would be given utmost priority to ensure that youths in Ihiala were gainfully engaged to discourage them from antisocial behaviours.

He said that the present administration is constructing roads and instituting more infrastructures in Ihiala, stressing that Ihiala Water Scheme would be ready shortly.

Also the State Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra, Hon. Engr. Levi Ugochukwu Obiaduo however tasked the TC chairman to do more work for Ihiala Local Government Area because to whom much is given, much is expected.

Obiaduo who is also an indigene of Ihiala, corroborated what the TC chairman said, emphasizing that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is doing a lot of projects in Ihiala local government.

He informed that the governor would be coming to Okija to commission a road already completed by his administration. That apart from Okija, the governor has also commissioned roads in Uli and some other communities in Ihiala Local Government Area.

Meanwhile the Ihiala Local Government APGA Secretary, Hon. Emma Chukwudoluo, recalled that Ihiala local government headquarters was burnt and that ever since the TC chairman has been doing his utmost to turn things around.

Chukwudoluo who told this journalist that Engr. Anayochukwu Orjiakor was returned unopposed, said they believe very strongly that the TC chairman will do more exploits and they have also assured him of their unalloyed support all the way.

Chukwudoluo equally pointed out that the problem in Ihiala Local Government is very complex. He said they are suffering the menace of unknown gunmen on one side and on the other side suffering the menace of cultism and cult clashes.

Although he stated that security is capital intensive, he said that the TC chairman is not a noisemaker as he is silently and quietly fighting insecurity in Ihiala with very tangible results, stressing that Ihiala is far better of now than few months ago.

Chukwudoluo however tasked the TC chairman to attract more government presence to Ihiala Local Government Area. He also said that Ihiala people expect more remedial actions against insecurity as many people have left Ihiala and sought refuge in other places due to insecurity.
