Nigerian businessman and socialite, Obi Cubana, has shared that no one in his family has lived beyond the age of 80. Cubana revealed that despite his late mother’s efforts, she passed away at 79 without breaking the family’s generational jinx.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwu, Cubana explained that his family held an extravagant funeral for his mother as a tribute to her near-success in overcoming the curse.
He said, “In my family, no one has reached 80 years. My father passed away at 66, my grandmother at 75, my grandfather at 78, and this pattern continued with my mother. We hoped she would break the cycle and planned an elaborate celebration for her. She passed away on December 31 at 79, just after celebrating her 78th birthday. We wanted to honor her efforts and the close call with the jinx, which is why we went all out for her funeral.”
