Outgoing EKSU VC Olanipekun Reveals Government Owes Over N1 Billion

Professor Edward Olanipekun, the outgoing Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has announced that he is leaving the institution in a significantly improved state compared to five years ago. During a press session in Ado Ekiti, Olanipekun highlighted the various initiatives and policies introduced under his leadership that enhanced both academic and moral standards.

Olanipekun expressed gratitude for his tenure and achievements but cited the proscription of in-house unions as the most disheartening moment of his administration. He noted that although he worked to address the issue with relevant authorities, the decision, made in his absence, was troubling.

The VC also lamented the lack of residential facilities for lecturers and students, which he believes is crucial for quality education and research. He hopes his successor will prioritize this development.

Looking ahead, Olanipekun plans to retire and take time to contemplate his next steps, but he remains committed to continuing his contribution to education. He also disclosed that the government owes EKSU over N1 billion in subventions.
