Hunters As Credible Alternative For Local Security In Anambra

The allegations of community vigilantes in Anambra State taking oaths with criminals and criminal elements infiltrating the vigilante service has not only made the war against criminalities in the hinterlands unsuccessful but has also made the bushes and forests a safe heaven for criminals who have their camps in such places. 

Commandant Otoibhi urges Nigerians to commit to promoting safety in communities

 


Mr Cyprian Otoibhi, the Commandant of  Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, has urged Nigerians to get committed in promoting safety and security in neighbourhoods and communities.

“The citizens can do this by giving confidential and actionable intelligence information about criminals, criminal activities and unpatriotic engagements to security agencies especially NSCDC officials, “Otoibhi said on Friday.

Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, on Friday, signed the New Enugu City Development Agency Bill, Enugu State Geographical Information System Service Bill, and Enugu State Independence Electoral Commission, ENSIC, (Amendment) Bill into Law.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Professor Kate Omenugha, Fnipr on Wednesday, 21st February 2024, inaugurated Research Management Office (RMO) team with a call on them to identified private sector research needs which, she said, may be met through collaboration with COOU's researchers and as well facilitate linkages with the private sector for the sponsorship of research conducted in the University.

Hardship, Hunger: Anambra NLC Shuts Down Awka, Joins Nationwide Protests

The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Anambra State Chapter led by its Chairman Comrade (Sir) Humphrey Emeka Nwafor, has joined the ongoing nationwide protest organised by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) against hardship , hunger and insecurity across the country.

  Addressing newsmen in Àwka shortly after the protester, Sir Nwafor said that they were protesting over the high level of economic hardship in the country.

5,104 dry season farmers in Enugu benefits from ATASP water pumps

 


No fewer than 5,104 dry season farmers in Enugu State have benefited from the Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme Phase One (ATASP-1) water pumps for dry season irrigation farming.

The 5,104 dry season farmers in Enugu State within 52 farming clusters (or farming cooperatives) are within the Adani and Omor farming zone.

Okechukwu hails Tinubu for enlisting S/East in renewed electricity roadmap project

Former Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for enlisting South-East in his renewed electricity roadmap of infrastructural development project, popularly known as "Light Up Nigeria".

Okechukwu, a foundation member of All Prigressives Congress (APC), gave the commendation in Enugu on Tuesday while reacting to the recent South-East Business Roundtable for Light up Nigeria project.

Police arrest fake philanthropist, recover fraudulently obtained bags of rice in Enugu



The Police Command in Enugu State has 

arrested a fake philanthropist and recovered fraudulently obtained bags of rice within Enugu metropolis

The Command's Spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Sunday in Enugu that the swift response of police operatives serving in the Ogui Police Division led to arrest of one Joseph Nnamani, 45.

Successful technical rollover: EEDC urges South-East residents to upgrade meters seamlessly

 


The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced the cut over to its new vending system, SuperEdge, following a successful rollover in readiness for the Standard Transfer Specification (STS) prepaid meter upgrade.

The company noted that with the successful technological and technical rollover completed on Saturday, Feb. 24; South-East residents can now upgrade their prepaid meters seamlessly and without any monetary charge henceforth.

FCT Minister (State) House Caught Fire

 

There was a fire outbreak  on Sunday afternoon at the private residence of the Minister of State Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud.

The house located at No. 9, Justice Roseline Ukeji Close, Asokoro, was completely razed and nothing could be salvaged from the ruins.
