Clergy Profers Solution To Curtail Ebola Spread

 In his bid to ensure that the spread of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is prevented, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor has announced that the traditional sign of peace observation during the celebration of the Holy Mass which involve shaking of hands and embracing one another can no longer be taken as usual rather it will be observed by the congregation waving at each other during the ceremony.

IMMIGRATION SET TO RECRUIT 5,000 OFFICERS

 

 The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, on Friday said the Federal Government planned to recruit 5,000 officers into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) over the next five years.
Moro said this in Abuja at the 2014 Comptroller-General’s annual conference and stakeholder’s forum in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the service.
The two-day conference organised by the service is themed: “Effective Border Control Systems and Procedures for National Security”.

Ebola: Dearth of volunteers persist in Lagos despite N60,000 daily pay, insurance

LAGOS State is facing the problem of shortage of volunteers to help care for the victims of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). In spite of a life insurance scheme and N60, 000 daily allowance being offered by the state government, health workers and volunteers are still not forthcoming.
This is coming as the Ebola disease saga in Nigeria took a sinister twist with cases of Ebola virus infection emerging among two spouses of the health workers (primary contacts) that attended to the index (first) case, Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer.

US Navy Sacks Africa American Woman For Refusing to cut off Her Natural Hair

The U.S Navy announced this weekend that it was discharging Jessica Sims, an Africa American woman who has been a sailor for 12-years, for “failing to obey an order to cut off her natural hairstyle.”The military has been under scrutiny for guidelines issued in March that critics believe were discriminatory toward African-American women.
