KIDNAPPED LAGOS KIDS RESCUED - POLICE

Police detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Lagos Command have rescued the three kids were kidnapped by their nanny from their Lawanson Road, Lagos residence.
The kids were said to have been found on Tuesday evening by the police team in an abandoned building at Akowonjo area of Lagos.
They were reportedly abandoned by their abductors for fear of being arrested by the police team who had been on their trail since last Wednesday when the abduction happened.
It could not be ascertained as at the time of filing in this report if any ransom was paid to secure their release by the parents of the kids.

The deep rottenness of Ebonyi political system threatens all the economic gains this giant state has made.  In its position as the food basket of the nation or the salt of the nation as the case maybe and of course one of the most populous states in Nigeria also ranks high among the states in terms of both human and natural resources, which, if put to maximum use and well harnessed and processed, Ebonyi state would have by now, asserted its rightful position among the super states in Nigeria.

Ebonyi state problems are indeed complex and multifaceted and that constitute the major stumbling block on the path of the state progress in many ways and sectors of development. As a result of these cumulative problems over the years, the state has become very difficult to rule or control, as many people have for long indulged in un patriotic habits, on which they are addicted as their ways of earning a living, at the expense of million others.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has apprehended four suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for attempting to smuggle cocaine to Brazil.

It was learnt that the suspects ─ Ejiofor Eliezer (46), Obah Francis (30), Akpa Sobuzochukwu (27) and 36-year-old Ike Okechukwu ─ excreted 171 wraps of drug that tested positive for cocaine.

Punch Metro gathered that the discovery was made during the screening of passengers on board Qatar and Emirates airlines.
Eliezer, who excreted 100 wraps of the drug, told investigators that poverty pushed him to commit the crime, adding that he had intended to use the expected proceed to fend for his family of four.

Nigeria’s President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has pledged to do all possible to rescue more than 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok in Borno State, by Boko Haram militants, a year ago.
The girls were seized April 14, 2014 from their dormitories as they prepared for exams.
The current federal government has failed to rescue them, and has been widely criticised for not doing enough, until recently, to tackle Boko Haram.
In a statement marking the girls’ one year in captivity, Mr. Buhari said his government will act differently.

INEC CAME INTO THE ELECTION WITH A WINNER IN MIND, SAYS OKOROCHA

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of partisanship, saying the commission had a premeditated winner in mind before the election.
Speaking through the Director General of his Campaign Organization, Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe, the governor stated that the supplementary election was avoidable if INEC had done the right thing.
According to Alaribe, INEC had underestimated the popularity of Governor Rochas Okorocha and was overwhelmed by the firm will of the people expressed through massive votes for the governor.
“This is why they worked out the supplementary election as a soft landing for the PDP.” He added, “Our major opponent is not Ihedioha but INEC which has become a major player and a partisan contender in the election.”

AMAECHI NOT INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT – RIVERS GOVT

The Rivers State Government has stated that Governor Rotimi Amaechi is not involved in any accident, as being insinuated.
The Rivers government, through the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, Friday in Port Harcourt, said the accident rumour was the product of mischief makers, evil harbingers and those who wished the state governor dead.
Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), as at press time, was in his office at the Government House, Port Harcourt, attending to state matters.
Rivers government said: “We make haste to inform Rivers people that their governor is hale, hearty and ready to cast his ballot tomorrow (today), during the governorship and House of Assembly elections. The rumour is nothing but the handiwork of mischief makers and those who wish the governor ill, but unfortunately, they are not God.

SERAP URGES BUHARI TO DECLARE ASSETS, PROSECUTE CORRUPT OFFICIALS

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged president-elect Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to publicly declared his assets and instruct all members of his government to do same.
SERAP executive director, Adetokunbo Mumuni, made the call yesterday in a statement where he suggested a five-point agenda for the incoming administration to tackle corruption if only to send a strong signal of change and ensure improved governance in the country.
“Nigerians have heard plenty of rhetoric about corruption and now is the time to take concrete action to combat the problem,” Mumuni said. “As a first step, the president-elect should immediately after 29 May 2015 demonstrate his total rejection of corruption by publicly declaring his assets and publicly instructing all members of his government to do the same.”
