44 killed as Boko Haram attacks military base

Again, Boko Haram insurgents have attacked a military unit at Blabili, Danboa, Borno State, in the early hours of Friday.

The latest attack came on the heels of the recent abduction of more than 100 female students in Chibok locality of the state.

Not less than 40 insurgents and four soldiers were killed in the gunfight.

 Investigations revealed that the Special Forces recovered several arms and ammunition from the insurgents in the battle.

The Director of Defence Information, Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, confirmed that there was an encounter between troops and some insurgents in the area.

Although he did not give details of the attack, he faulted the figure.

“The figures are not accurate Yes, there was an encounter between our soldiers and the insurgents,” he said.

Obasanjo’s loyalists dump PDP for APC

Loyalists of  former  President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Peoples Democratic Party have dumped the ruling party for the All Progressives Congress.

Saturday PUNCH  learnt on Wednesday that the former President’s supporters, particularly those in the South-West, left the PDP because they felt that  they had been sidelined.

It was learnt that the former president’s loyalists  would have left the PDP early this year, but  they were prevailed upon by Obasanjo to remain in the party after the visit of the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji  Adamu Mu’azu, to him in Abeokuta on January 26, 2014.

South Carolina twin sisters Shaakira White and Zaakira Mitchell, gave birth on July 24th just one hour apart. It was reported that Mitchell was accompanying her sister to her doctor’s appointment, and then suddenly they both went into labor.
One gave birth to a set of twins and the other a baby boy. Although, this is not the first time twins gave birth on the same day, it still a special time for all involve. Well wishes to Saakira and Zaakira.

The Taraba State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the state House of Assembly to as a matter of urgency commence an impeachment move against the acting Governor of the state, Alhaji Garba Umar.

Addressing a press conference at the CAN secretariat in Jalingo yesterday, the state Chairman of CAN, Rt. Rev Timothy Yahaya, said the call for the acting governor’s impeachment had become imperative due to what it described his failure to protect the lives and properties of the people of the state particularly Christians.

How sad, I'm   just too shock to say any thing, According to @kofoogbam who tweeted all this information, There are reports that within the last 24 hours, four kidnappers have been caught in Osogbo, Osun state. One of kidnappers, lady pictured above, was caught yesterday with 3 kids and that she was pretending to be a mad woman. Monarch Uuges President Jonathan to Run For 201 Election

The Oba of Benin, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa, on Friday in Abuja enjoined President Goodluck Jonathan to contest for the 2015 Presidential Election to enable him continue his good work for the country.
Erediauwa, who made the call when he addressed State House correspondents in Abuja, after a closed-door meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan, said his kingdom had since embarked on special prayers for the success of the president in next year’s general elections.
The Oba, who was represented by his Son, Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, said the kingdom had also embarked on special prayers for the continued survival of Nigeria as a geo-political entity.
