Akwa Ibom 2015: It’s PDP vs PDP

PDP1
WITH virtually all electoral slots from the wards, the state and the national levels in the kitty of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State can arguably be described as a core and complete PDP state.
And with the massive achievements of Governor Godswill Akpabio in the state, which he has dubbed ‘uncommon transformation,’ the PDP, ordinarily, is not expected to have problems retaining its electoral laurels. At least, not from the opposition parties, which have a very high hurdle to scale, if they were to make any appreciable inroad into the state christened ‘Land of Promise.’
However, the PDP may not have it easy, if the brewing intra-party squabble is not amicably resolved ahead of the election. Currently, what is panning out as PDP versus PDP electoral battle may present the opposition with an unexpected electoral gift.
Currently, some elders, stakeholders and founders of the PDP in Akwa Ibom are at daggers drawn with Governor Akpabio over the control of the PDP structure and zoning of electoral offices ahead of the election.

The story of Sambisa forest - Inside Boko Haram’s Hideout:

sambisa-1
Sambisa is a vast area of land located south of Borno State. The thick forest area with swampy condition during rainy season is believed to be harbouring make shift- camps of suspected members of Boko Haram Islamists.
It has boundaries with Chibok, Askira Uba, Damboa, Gwoza, Konduga, Dikwa, Bama and other local government areas of the state.
There is a games reserve situated in the heart of Sambisa forest,  but when members of the terrorist group were dislodged by the military and vigilante youths from Maiduguri, Borno State capital, most of them relocated to the Sambisa and destroyed the games reserve last year killing some of the staff and settling there.

South Africa draw bogey team Nigeria

Africa Cup of Nations defending champions Nigeria were grouped with South Africa and Sudan when the 2015 qualifying draw was made in Cairo Sunday.
The Group A line-up will be completed by the winners of a preliminary tie involving Namibia, Congo Brazzaville, Libya and Rwanda.
Nigeria can be confident of making the 16-team finals between January 17 and February 8 in Moroccan cities Agadir, Marrakech, Rabat and Tangier.
They are a bogey side for South Africa — never losing a competitive match to Bafana Bafana (The Boys) — and Sudan have struggled lately.
Every draw creates a ‘group of death’ and Group G fits the bill with Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal and one from Burundi, Botswana, Central African Republic and Guinea-Bissau.
Egypt have lifted the Cup of Nations a record seven times, hosts Tunisia triumphed in 2004 and Senegal were the strongest third seeds.

And it has been happening in northern Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, and other neighbouring countries for decades – the work of Joseph Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army.
