The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the federal government to immediately stop the discordant tunes emanating from the highest echelons of government and speak with one voice on issues concerning the ongoing efforts to find and rescue the schools girls abducted by Boko Haram.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the conflicting statements credited to top government officials over the conditions given by Boko Haram for releasing the girls were totally unwarranted and could send the wrong signal to the insurgents and hinder the efforts to ensure the safe return of the girls.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been clarified, but such attack has been frequent recent in Kenya, most of which have been linked to the al-Shabab militant Islamist group from neighbouring Somalia.

Who will advise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take it easy in its desperation to coast home victory in the coming governorship elections in Ekiti and the state of Osun, even as it’s glaring that all the factors on ground are in favour of the incumbent governors of these two states?
President Goodluck Jonathan’s spokesperson, Reuben Abati, has debunked news that the President made plans to pay a visit to Chibok this Friday.

The alleged mastermind of the April 14 Nyanya bomb blast, Aminu Sadik Ogwuche, has escaped to Sudan. Sometime in November 2010, a former United States ambassador to Nigeria (May 2004-July 2007), Mr. John Campbell wrote a book titled, Nigeria: Dancing on the brink. The issues highlighted in the book drew a lot of attention and generated enormous controversies both within Nigeria and around the world. I was then based at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars in Washington DC as Africa Policy Scholar. Many Nigerians especially government officials were critical of the positions canvassed by the former ambassador in his book and some reprimanded him publicly for what they thought was an undue exaggeration and misrepresentation of the issues. Many politicians called for his head accusing him of predicting the break-up of our country. As usual, many politicians dismissed him as a misguided prophet of doom who should be ignored by anyone who wished Nigeria well.
