BuharI: Taclkling Insecurity In Nigeria Requires A Holistic Approach


Former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) has called for a holistic approach to tackle the insecurity situation in the country; even as he called for the elimination of corruption, which he described as the greatest danger that stands in the way of Nigeria’s progress and peace.
In a statement issued by the ex-military ruler and titled ‘Our Economy and our Society’s Security’, Buhari said security agencies of the (Federal) government need closer cooperation with civilian security infrastructure which is in place but seldom considered as a part of the security effort.

Former Governor Of Ogun State Gbenga Daniel Dumps PDP


A former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel, on Saturday formally dumped Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to join the Labour Party.
Mr. Daniel said his new party will displace the present All Progressives Congress, APC, administration in Ogun come 2015.
The former governor spoke when he appeared at the commissioning of the state headquarters of the Labour Party, located at Onikolobo area of Abeokuta, where he publicly addressed his loyalists and party supporters.

Uri Geller spoon gorilla statue unveiled

A huge gorilla statue made entirely of spoons for entertainer Uri Geller has been unveiled by Prince Michael of Kent.
The 12ft-high (3.6m) statue features about 40,000 spoons and has taken almost five months to build at the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry.
The spoons have been donated from across the world, as well as local schoolchildren.
It is due to be transported to Mr Geller's home in Berkshire on 28 May.
