Kanye West and Kim Kardashian will not be tying the knot in Florence this weekend as they have not submitted official documents, a spokesman for the city council told AFP.
The celebrity pair have rented out the 16th-century Fort Belvedere for a celebration on Saturday with 200 guests, fuelling speculation that this could be their wedding.
“For the Italian state, this is not a wedding,” Marco Agnoletti said on Monday.
“To get married in Florence they would have to submit a lot of documents. They haven’t made an official request so it can’t officially be a marriage,” said Agnoletti, a spokesman for the city’s interim mayor, Dario Nardella.

A 25- year-old truck driver, Ibrahim Sanni, was on Monday remanded in prison custody by a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged murder of his two-year-old baby.
Sanni who resides at Kargi Village, Kubau local government area of Kaduna, was remanded for allegedly throwing his baby boy into the Kubau River on Dec. 28, 2013.
The Chief Magistrate Mr Bashri Shittu, ordered that the accused be kept in prison custody under Section 185 (A) of the Criminal Penal Code pending an advice from the Ministry of Justice.
Shittu said that his court had no jurisdiction, to try the case adding that the accused was only brought for cognizance.

The Principal of Government College, Makurdi, Mr Godfrey Ugudu, on Saturday said the school had received letter from Boko Haram sect threatening to attack the school.
Ugudu, who announced this at a news conference in Makurdi on Saturday, added that the school received two letters which had the same content on May 14.

A suspected car bomb ripped through a crowded entertainment spot in the north Nigerian city of Kano on Sunday, witnesses said.
Also at least 40 villagers were killed and several others injured on Saturday evening in Dalwa-Masuba village of Damboa local of Borno state in northeast Nigerian, security sources and witnesses said.
Four people were killed, including a young girl, in the suicide car bomb attack, the Kano State police commissioner said.
A commercial motorcyclist, Friday Samuel, 21, on Monday appeared before an Ogudu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly pushing a lady into boiling palm oil. Samuel, who lives at 9, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Ketu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge bordering on assault. He pleaded not guilty to the charge. The prosecutor, Corporal Uche Simon, told the court that the accused committed the offence on May 11 at 29, Akeem Street, Mile 12, Lagos.
