President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan strongly condemns the bomb blasts in Jos, Plateau state, today, describing the perpetrators of this tragic assault on human freedom as cruel and evil.  He has also directed all relevant agencies to mobilize support and relief efforts in aid of the victims. Breaking News: Twin Bomb Blast In Jos, Kill Over 200 People

Two big explosions rocked the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) area inside the Terminus Market near Murtala Mohammed way, in Jos city.
 Eyewitness said the explosions shook the entire area causing major panic in the area.
 The bombs were primed to inflict maximum casualties as they exploded few minutes apart. 

CHIBOK: British Drone Breaks Down En Route Nigeria


Britain’s Ministry of Defence on Monday said that a spy plane sent to help in the search for the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamists had been grounded en route due to a fault.
“A technical fault which has delayed the Sentinel aircraft on its way to Ghana is being investigated and will be solved as soon as possible,” said an MoD statement.
“In the meantime the UK military team continues its work on the ground while other surveillance aircraft continue the search for the missing schoolgirls.”

Buhari Denies Arrested Son, Says He Is An Impostor


A former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (retd.), has said the person, who was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for a N20m scam, and who claimed to be his adopted son, was not his son.
Buhari, a presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change in the 2011 election, said he had no need to adopt any son as God had blessed him with both male and female children.
The disclaimer by the former Head of State was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the Buhari Vanguard, Mr. Jasper Azuatalam, on Monday.

Nigerian Senate Approves Extention Of Emergency Rule In Adamawa, Bauchi and Yobe States


The Senate on Tuesday, unanimously approved the extension of the state of emergency in the troubled states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and gave seven conditions that should be met by the federal government in order to ensure its successful implementation.
The conditions which formed part of the prayers contained in the motion moved by the senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma – Egba, and approved by the entire members, without a single dissent, included:
* That the Federal Government should expand the military cooperation and collaboration with the international community on the rescue of Chibok girls, to the overall arrest of the ugly incidence of terrorism in Nigeria.

AS delegates begin debates tomorrow on the reports of the 20 committees, the Yoruba ethnic nationality has said they will not accept anything short of regional autonomy, just as they calls for the establishment of Regional Police.
In a 88-page document put together by the Yoruba Assembly, Afenifere Renewal Group and Yoruba Academy, the Yoruba said there was need for a parliamentary form of government at the centre where there wiould be the right to self-determination and the right to secede.

Religion Not Yardstick For Next Governor– FASHOLA


Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State on Monday described as baseless calls that the next governor of the state should be of a particular faith.
The governor spoke on Monday at an inter-faith conference organised by the state government. The conference was themed: “Peace, Religious Harmony and Good Governance: Issues and Challenges”.
He contended that religion and good governance were two different things and democratic dividends had no religious coloration.

Senators Endorse Extention of Emergency Rule In Three North East State


Cracks have appeared in the opposition of the Northern Senators’ Forum (NSF) to President Goodluck Jonathan’s request for an extension of emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states.
Some NSF members were said to be angry with their chairman, Senator Umaru Dahiru over allegations of misinformation and have called for his resignation.

CHIBOK: U.S. FINALLY AGREES TO SHARE INTELLIGENCE WITH NIGERIA


After six days of deliberation, the United States (US) has finally agreed to share its intelligence study to Nigerian government over the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls by members of Islamic militants, Boko Haram, last month.
Spokesperson of Pentagon Army, Col. Steve Warren, while speaking with journalists in Washington DC yesterday, said the U.S. government after thorough talks had accepted to help Nigeria with its intelligence analysis.
