The Niger State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been
described as a baseless political group of people with hollow
disposition towards an articulated security master plan in protecting
the lives and properties of the people.
This position was contained in a statement on Friday by Israel Ebije,
the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida
Aliyu.
Things fell apart in Rivers State Judiciary since the exit of the
immediate past Chief Judge, Justice Iche Ndu, in August, 2013, and the
centre can no longer hold. At least, the crisis in the state’s judiciary
took a turn for the worst, after the retirement of Justice Iche Ndu.
The crisis, however, did not come to many as a surprise. This is
because, while the body of Jurists, the National Judicial Council (NJC)
and the retiring Iche Ndu, had in mind who would become the next Chief
Judge of the State, the governor of the state, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi
Amaechi, knew who would.
Former Lagos State governor, Senator
Bola Tinubu in a statement on Friday warned that the Inidependent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) must not botch today’s election in
Ekiti as it did Anambra governorship election last year. Tinubu, in a
statement, stressed that the election would be easily won by the All
Progressives Congress (APC) if it is free and fair.
Kano— The
Presidency may have finally cleared the coast for Mohammed Abacha, the
son of late General Sani Abacha, to join forces with pro Jonathan
supporters and win back Kano State for Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
next year. Competent sources told Vanguard that Wednesday’s
withdrawal of the N446.3 billion money laundering charge against Abacha
was aimed at giving him a clean bill to be able to run as PDP
gubernatorial candidate in the next election.
Some Nigerians in Brazil are accusing the leadership of the Nigeria
Football Federation (NFF) and Nigeria Football Supporters Club of
fleecing them of $150 each, which they allegedly paid to be provided
with the new jerseys of the Super Eagles. The Nigerian residents
told National Mirror that the failure of the NFF and NFSC Rafiu to
supply the jersey replicas to them had contributed to the poor turnout
of the Nigerians at the stadium during the Iran versus Nigeria match on Monday.
Presidential fact-finding
committee on the rescue of the abducted schoolgirls of Chibok, Borno
State, submitted its report today. While presenting the report to
President Goodluck Jonathan at the State House in Abuja today, the
chairman of the committee, Brigadier-General Ibrahim Sabo (rtd) said his
team gathered that 219 students remained unaccounted for, noting that
of the 276 abducted, 57 escaped and had been reunited with their
families. He said his committee discovered that during the siege on
the school on April 14, 119 students escaped from the school premises,
before the insurgents took away others.
One of the three frontline candidates in Saturday’s gubernatorial
election in Ekiti State, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, of Labour Party,
has said that he would emerge victorious in the race.
Bamidele expressed this assurance in a goodwill message sent to his
teeming supporters across the length and breadth of Ekiti State, just as
they move into the election proper in less than 24 hours.
He said his hope of a landslide victory in the poll was hinged on God’s
purpose and unflinching popularity he enjoys among Ekiti State voters
over the years.
The Presidency has
dispelled accusation by the opposition APC that President Goodluck
Jonathan’s administration was repressive ahead of Saturday’s
governorship election in Ekiti. The Special Adviser to the President
on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, said in a statement issued in
Abuja on Friday that the accusation was absolutely wrong.
The presidential
fact-finding committee on the abduction of the schoolgirls in Chibok,
Borno State yesterday submitted its report to President Goodluck
Jonathan with an advice that the findings be kept secret as they had the
potential of threatening national security as well as jeorpadising
rescue efforts. The committee also confirmed that the actual number
of the school girls abducted in Chibok, Borno State was 276, out of
which 119 were still missing, explaining that out of the 276 girls
abducted on April 14, about 57 later escaped and had since been reunited
with their families.
Since

ceased to be a surprise package. She astounded her fans recently when
she confided in Showtime that she is a virgin. At 23, looking hot
and rather willing with her liberated personality, her fans found it
hard to believe, but Adokiye said it is true and that whoever wants her
virginity should be prepared to buy her mother the private jet she long promised her.
