Jonathan Unviel N3Trillion Centenary City


President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Centenary City, Abuja.
Jonathan said the $18.6 billion (N3 trillion) centenary city which would start off with 10 storey building, would be a modern city with presidential archives.
The president said his administration was developing the centenary city, sited at the Airport Road, Abuja for security and free trade zone.

The Ekiti State governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of depleting the state’s treasury.
Fayose said the state government had incurred a lot of debt for his incoming administration.
Fayose said this yesterday in Abuja during his appreciation visit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, has said that the All Progressives Congress lost the Ekiti State governorship polls due to fraud but maintained that it was impossible to rig him out in the August 9, 2014 governorship election in Osun.
The governor spoke in Ikirun on Tuesday during the continuation of his campaign which was held in the town.

Northern Residents In Abia Warn Abia Government To Refrain From Tagging Hausas Boko Haram

Northerners resident in Abia State have called upon Governor Chief Theodore Orji to caution the people of the state against calling their northern counterparts Boko Haram since not all northerners support the violent sect.Also, the people appealed to the Governor and the security agents in the area to particularly call to order one Pastor Jubril John, who, they accused of going about insulting Islam and inciting the Igbo against the northerners in Aba, insisting that his negative utterances, if not checked, could cause serious trouble between Christians and Muslims in Aba.

NLA Honours Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi

The former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has bagged the coveted Golden Merit Award by the Nigerian Library Association (NLS).
Presenting the award yesterday at the Golden Royale Hotel Enugu, the National President of the Association, Mr. Abdulsalami Rilwanu said they had not presented it to anyone over the years because nobody in authority had made conscious and laudable efforts to uplift library services in Nigeria, until Mr. Peter Obi became the Governor of Anambra State.

IBRU SUES FG OVER OCEANIC BANK SALE …says govt stabbed me in the back


Former Group Managing Director of the defunct Oceanic Bank International Plc., Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, has described the sale of the bank by the Federal Government as dubious, wicked and a danger ous stab in the back.
Ibru, who is before a Federal High Court to push for an order voiding the sale of the bank, alleged that the Federal Government violated the agreement it entered with her during a plea bargain she negotiated to secure her freedom.

Egypt Sentences 3 Al-Jazeera Journalists


An Egyptian Court on Monday morning sentenced three AlJazeera journalists to jail.
The court found Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy, and Baher Mohamed guilty of reporting false news and associating with the now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood.
Aljazeera had denied the allegations and the world has accused Egyptian authorities of simply clamping down on media freedom.

Igbo Leaders Warn Boko Haram Insurgents


Pan Igbo socio-political organisation, Obigbo, has warned Boko Haram insurgents and their financiers that the South East is a no go region, saying that, any attack on Ndigbo on Igbo soil would be considered crossing the rubicon.
It also said that Ndigbo would not be part of any activity that will disintegrate Nigeria, adding that the Igbo would not watch while her people were killed in Igbo- land.
