Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor Tunde Bakare, two of Nigeria’s very popular Christian leaders, have invoked the wrath of God on the Boko Haram terrorist group that has endlessly inflicted pains in the country, killing its citizens and maiming others.
The immediate past Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has pleaded for forgiveness from those he offended during his tenure as governor of the state. He said he had forgiven those who offended him during the course of his administration. Ohakim made the appeal yesterday while playing host to the people of Okigwe who called at his country home to urge him to respond to their call for him to complete the tenure of the zone, as his services were still needed in the state.
Nigeria’s Former Aviation Minister, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, on Monday, alleged that the dreaded Islamic terrorist sect Boko Haram, which has wrecked havoc in the northern part of the country, is the armed wing of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). He further accused the Party’s leaders of being supportive of the sect’s actions, as it suits their purpose of discrediting the PDP led government. “If you compare what’s happening in Nigeria to what happened in Ireland some years ago, you had Sinn Fein on the one hand and then you had the IRA on the other. The IRA was the armed wing of Sinn Fein and as far as I’m concerned, Boko Haram could well be described as the armed wing of the opposition, today.”
A former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, has lamented that since the return to democracy in 1999, most of the elections in the country have been a mockery of democracy. The immediate-past interim Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Annie Okonkwo, has resigned his membership of the party.
