President Jonathan Vowed Twice Publicly Not to Contest 2015 - Obasanjo


Barely two months after former president Olusegun Obasanjo said in a letter that President Goodluck Jonathan promised to serve one term, he has restated that the president actually vowed to do so. Speaking to Bloomberg News, a London-based tabloid, yesterday, Obasanjo said during the 2011 electioneering, Jonathan promised to serve one term.b“President Jonathan said, not only once, twice, publicly, not only in Nigeria, outside Nigeria, that he would have one term, and said that to me,” Obasanjo said.
In the interview, Obasanjo challenged Jonathan to be a man of his words while reminding the president of the implication of not keeping vows.

Precisely 158 days after he inaugurated the 2014 National Conference, President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, received the report of the confab and vowed that his government would implement the recommendations.
The visibly elated President, who said that Nigerians had shamed critics, who thought the exercise would dismember the country, added that the government would discuss the outcome with the National Assembly and the Council of State on how to implement the report.

The constituted seven man panel instituted by the Chief Judge of Enugu State to investigate allegations of misconduct levelled against the deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi concluded its hearing on the issue with testimonies from the accused last Wednesday.
MR. Onyebuchi who had earlier appeared before the panel penultimate Wednesday, however, truncated proceedings when he took ill midway into his testimony on that day.

Another Bomb Scare: Residents Flee Iyanya Motor Park in Abuja
