Jonathan’s Government Favours Only His Family And Friends, Atiku Says

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of running a government which only benefits his cronies and family members.
Atiku accused Jonathan of turning his administration to one of nepotism, presidentialism and ‘clientelism.’
The former VP said this through his representative, Director-General of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Prof. Babalola Borishade, at a press conference held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

APC in dilemma over Kwankwaso, Amaechi’s Ambitions

The future ambitions of two governors – Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State – on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have presented the main opposition party with the dilemma of finding a balance between their desire for higher office and keeping the funds flowing from the states that both governors head.

Girls who escaped Nigerian terror group Boko Haram have described the physical torture, rape and forced marriage that many endure in their secret forest camps.
Some victims are also forced to take part in attacks and carry ammunition for fighters during battle. Others have been used as ‘bait’ to lure Christian men to their deaths.
The abuse is detailed in a Human Rights Watch report, which includes first-hand accounts from some of the schoolgirls who escaped after April’s Chibok kidnappings.

Police recover N2.2m recharge cards from robbers in Ekiti

 

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, has announced the recovery of mobile phone recharge cards worth N2.2 million from robbers.
Lakanu addressed journalists in Ado- Ekiti at the weekend and stated that the robbers attacked a telecommunication franchise, Card Mega System Limited, in Ilawe Ekiti, on August 22, 2014, where recharge cards worth N4.1 million were stolen.

Coroner orders T.B. Joshua to appear November 5

The coroner investigating the collapse of a guest house at the Synagogue Church of All Nations on September 12, on Friday, ordered that the founder and General Overseer of the church, Prophet Temitope Joshua, should appear before it on November 5, 2014.
He is to appear alongside the contractor handling the six-storey building before its collapse on September 12.
Over 115 people died in the incident while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.
The coroner, Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, stated that the appearance of the church’s founder was important to the assignment of the court.
