A Chieftain of the PDP in Rivers State, Tonye Princewill has argued that the quarrel between Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi and his former Chief of Staff, Nyesom Wike is a political game. Princewill also hinted that the alleged quarrel between Governor Amaechi and Wike is aimed at scuttling the chances and ambition of President Goodluck Jonathan. This was contained in a media statement issued by Princewill.While accusing Wike of working for the All Progressives Congress, APC, Princewill maintained that what was happening was not an Ikwerre agenda. Obiano hopeful of completion of Ogbunike Cave road by December

To ensure speedy completion of the road leading to one of the tourist centres in Anambra State as well as boost tourism during the yuletide season, attract investors, create jobs and alleviate poverty, Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has charged the contractor handling the Ogbunike road project to complete the work on schedule or risk immediate enforcement of the contract terms.
Governor Obiano warned the contractor during an inspection of the extent of work at the Ogbunike project where he expressed dissatisfaction with the level of work done so far and  directed the contracting firm to accelerate the  pace of work to complete it on schedule. Warning the contractor Obiano said, “I expect you to expedite action on every aspect of this construction and we will not condone further excuses because we have given you all the necessary support to ensure you deliver the road on schedule.”

Patience Jonathan’s Visit To Bayelsa: Two Kids Killed In Stampede

Two kids were yesterday reported dead following a stampede at the Samson Siasia Stadium, venue of the distribution of economic empowerment items and commodities to indigenes of Bayelsa state by the First Lady,Dame Patience Jonathan.

The kids,according to eyewitnesses,were crushed to death in a stampede provoked by armed security men including men of the Joint Military Task Force code named Operation Restore Hope.

Obiano Repositions Anambra as Investment Hub, Attracts $520m in one Week

The efforts of Governor Willie Obiano to reposition Anambra State as the new investment hub in West Africa are beginning to yield amazing results as the state attracted a whopping $520m investment in the outgone week. The investments came largely into the two key areas that make up the governor’s Four Pillars of Development, namely Agriculture and Trade and Commerce. The other two Pillars are Industrialization and Oil & Gas.

What is currently looking like Anambra’s day in the investment sun began at midweek with a tripartite agreement which the state government signed with the management of Delfarm Limited and Songhai Regional Centre from Benin Republic for specific agricultural projects valued at $200m (about N15bn). This was followed up at the weekend with another agreement with a consortium known as the West Africa Intercontinental Trade Centre Ltd which signed for the construction of an International Modern Market to be located in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area at an estimated value of $320m for the first phase of the project.

Fulani Herdsmen Again, rapes their women In Imo

Women and youths of Irete Community in Owerri West Local Government of Imo State numbering over 300 yesterday protested the incessant rape of women and destruction of economic crops by Fulani herdsmen who have overrun community’s farmland.The protest, in addition to the demonstration over the non issuance the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) along Port Harcourt Road, resulted in heavy gridlock along the busy  Owerri/ Onitsha Expressway and other parts of the capital city, crippling activities within the state capital.According to a source in the community, Dan Opara, the protest came after two women from the community returned from their farm at Onitsha Road Industrial Layout and reported their rape to their families.
