‘I cannot count the stolen cars I’ve sold’

A suspected car snatcher, Alhaji Kabiru Akorede, who was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, has said he can not count the number of stolen vehicles he sold to people.

PUNCH Metro learnt that 42-year-old Akorede, who hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, was nabbed by operatives of the special Anti-Robbery Squad in his residence at NEPA Quarters, Isashi, Lagos.

Wike denies dropping gov ambition

FORMER Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, has denied a media report (not The PUNCH) that he has backed out of the governorship race in Rivers State.

Wike, an aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said on Monday that there was no truth in the report that he decided to drop his governorship ambition to run for the Senate.

Obasanjo killed student unionism, says Bakare

The Convener of Save Nigeria Group and the General Overseer of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of killing students’ unionism in the country when he was the military Head of State in 1978.

He made the allegation at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Monday. The occasion was the 2014 anniversary of the International Day of Students.
