Tambuwal suspends presidential bid, to pick gov form

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday bowed to pressure and opted out of the race for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress.

The Speaker made his decision public in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Tambuwal said the decision to suspend his bid was taken after due consultations and considerations of the overall interest of the party.

Housewife stabs hubby to death over money

What started as a mild argument over money turned tragic between a couple in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State after the wife stabbed her husband to death.

The incident happened on Wednesday, last week, on TK Balogun Street, Igbo Olomu, Ishawo.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the woman, Folashade Sodiya, 27, killed her husband, Jude Igbinedor, 39, around 2am after heated argument over money.

They were said to have been in a seven-year relationship, though the union had not been consented to by the parents.

2015 elections: APC inaugurates 19-man convention committee

Drug counterfeiting reduced to 6 per cent — NAFDAC

The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr Paul Orhi, has said that incidences of drug counterfeiting has gone down.
Orhi said in a message to the formal destruction of counterfeit drugs worth N100 million in Enugu on Tuesday that counterfeiting in the country had been reduced to 6 per cent.

Nigerian banks raised $3bn acquisition finance for power industry privatisation

  

The Managing Director of Stanbic IBTC, Mrs Sola David-Borha, on Tuesday said that some Nigerian banks had raised three billion dollars (N465 billion) as acquisition finance in the pre-privatisation of the power industry.

David-Borha disclosed this at the ongoing West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC) in Lagos.

Money laundering: Court acquits Fani-Kayode on 38 of 40 counts

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, partly upheld a no-case submission by former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, and acquitted him of 38 out of 40 counts of money laundering charges.
Fani-Kayode was charged on an amended 40 count-charge, bordering on the alleged offence by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
