President Jonathan Was Not Booed Or Stoned in OAU -SUG President

Isaac Ibikunle, President of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, has dismissed stories that President Goodluck Jonathan was stoned and booed during his last visit to the university.

According to DAILY TIMES, a statement issued by Ibikunle read, “We read some reports that the President was stoned, booed and harassed when he came to our campus. This is not correct. Security personnel initially prevented us from seeing the president but we insisted that we wanted to discuss with him and we were allowed to see him.

The most popular and internationally renown  Igbo gospel artist, Mrs Chinyere Udoma,, was recently a beneficiary of the universally recognized EMINENT PEACE AMBASSADOR appointment. She, alongside about a dozen others were selected amongst more than 700 people who were considered for the exalted award/appointment.

Interacting with the press just after receiving the award plaque and tag that goes with it, the visibly ecstatic Chinyere Udoma, who was accompanied by her supportive husband, expressed her profound gratitude to the Almighty for counting her worthy of such recognition. She attributed the honor to the grace of God and to providence saying it was just as a result of the fact that it was her time and not any special personal attributed of hers.

This year's November 28 was not like the others as a beloved son of Nibo, Architect Chukwudi Nwonu pulled the who's who in different fields of play to his house to celebrate his 50th year as an earth citizen. Professors, oculists, Catholic priests, Managers of schools and banks, veteran journalists were among the designations that coloured the event. Neighbours and Niboans were well represented too as whole families were spotted approaching the gentleman to give him congratulatory messages, speak health and long life into his life and hand in envelopes of goodwill, most of which he rejected with a grin of appreciation. 'Why would I take from someone who deserves rather to be given', he says. 

Sultan urges Muslims to unite in the fight against Boko Haram

The Sultan of Sokoto and leader of Muslims in Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, has challenged Islamic sects in the country to unite and fight Boko Haram insurgency.

The Sultan, while condemning the suicide bomb blasts at the Kano Central Mosque on Friday, which left about 120 worshippers dead and many others injured, stated that “those behind all the attacks are not Muslims.”

Sanusi visits Kano mosque, says attack was planned for 2 months

The Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II, on Saturday visited the city’s bloodstained central mosque, 24 hours after coordinated bomb and gun attacks there that left at least 120 people dead.
During the 20-minute-visit to the mosque, which adjoins his palace in the city, the emir directed the place be washed and cleaned, an AFP correspondent at the scene reported.

In a gesture designed to highlight his commitment to inter-faith dialogue, Pope Francis conducted a silent prayer alongside a senior Islamic cleric in Istanbul’s Blue Mosque on Saturday. Facing Mecca, Francis bowed his head in prayer for several minutes while standing next to Istanbul’s Grand Mufti Rahmi Yaran. The Vatican described the gesture as a “moment of silent adoration” of God.

Francis’s predecessor, Pope Benedict, caused dismay among many conservative Catholics and some Muslims when he appeared to pray in the same mosque on his visit to Turkey eight years ago. The Vatican felt compelled to publish a statement saying that Benedict had merely been in meditation, though he later acknowledged that he “certainly turned his thoughts to God”.
