REMARKS BY THE GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE HIS EXCELLENCY CHIEF WILLIE OBIANO AT THE TRADITIONAL RULERS SEMINAR ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2014
Protocol
I am delighted to be in your midst this morning to declare this all important seminar open.
1.First, I must thank you all for the support you have given my team and I since March this year when we accepted the challenge to provide political leadership to Ndi Anambra. You may recall that you were the first of the critical stakeholders that I held consultations with shortly after I was sworn in as governor. I remember that three days after I was sworn in, I met with you on March 20, 2014 and appealed for your support as we took on the challenge of piloting the affairs of Anambra State. Today, I must thank you for standing by my administration and offering timely and wise advise that have helped to stabilize this great state.
Tony Monagor, member representing Idemili North constituency in the Anambra House of Assembly, has expressed gratitude to the party for for electing him to contest the seat again on its platform.
Muonagor was unanimously nominated at the All Progressives Congress (APC ) primary in Ogidi.
The Peoples Democratic Party held their primary election at Eagle Square in Abuja today. Current President Goodluck Jonathan will be the party's candidate in the 2015 presidential election.
A High Court siting in Abuja has ordered the Nigeria Police as well as the Customs to seize ‘MY WATCH’, a book by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.Justice Valentine Ashi in her verdict on Wednesday said Obasanjo disobeyed the court order by publishing the book after he was told not to. Ashi said: “I am of the view that the defendant having gone ahead to publish the book, he should therefore show cause within 21 days of the order served on him on why he should not be punished for contempt of court.“The Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of State Security Services and the Controller General of Nigeria Customs Services are hereby directed to recover the book from sales vendors.”
In his scathing new autobiography, My Watch, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo made a series of critical assertions against current President Goodluck Jonathan.
Due to the nature of the content, an ally of President Jonathan attempted to use a court order to block the publication of the book. President Jonathan also personally contacted the former president to appeal that the book not be published until next year, after the 2015 presidential election. Despite this My Watch launched yesterday, Dec. 9, in Lagos, in the presence of prominent political figures and officials.

The Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State capital Wednesday December 10, 2014 has dismissed the suit of double or multiple registration resurrected by an Onitsha based human rights lawyer, Jezie Ekejiuba, seeking the disqualification of Chief Willie Obiano as APGA candidate and nullification of the November 2013 governorship election that gave him victory over alleged discrepancies in his voting documents during the November 2013 election.
In the suit No.FHC/AWK/CS/269/2013, brought against Chief Obiano, Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the plaintiff claimed the first defendant (Obiano) allegedly submitted fake voter’s card in his INEC Form CF001 sworn affidavit contrary to Section 31 (1) to (6) of the Amended Electoral Act, 2010.
Following intense controversy surrounding the publication of his autobiography, My Watch, former President of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo today defied a court order barring him from launching the book in Lagos.

After much speculation, the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday elected Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-inlaw, Chief Uche Nwosu as its governorship candidate for the 2015 election. Nwosu was ratified as the party’s candidate in a congress that took place early Tuesday morning at the International Conference Centre, Owerri. The governorship candidate is the state commissioner for Lands and Urban Development. It is believed in many quarters that Nwosu’s candidature was meant for him to hold brief for Governor Okorocha who is seriously vying to secure the party’s presidential ticket. Continue...

The Supreme Court, yesterday, fixed December 16 to commence hearing on the suit seeking to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from vying for a re-election next year.
The apex court okayed the appeal which was filed before it by a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Adamawa State, Dr. Umar Ardo for hearing on a day President Jonathan insisted that he is legally qualified to contest in the 2015 general elections.
The President, through his lawyer Mr. Ade Okeaya-Inneh, SAN, told the court that he has already supplied before it, plethora of legal authorities backing his re-election bid.
He argued that Ardo has no strong case against him , insisting that he is permitted by the 1999 constitution to go for a second tenure in office.
