Wednesday December 17 2014 was a special day in the life of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA).
The occasion was the special national convention of the APGA held at the Women Development Centre Awka, Anambra State.
Delegates numbering hundreds had converged at the convention venue for the event slated to start at10am.
They came from all over Nigeria, North, South, West and East, comprising the country's six geo-political zones, without exception.
As early as9.45am, the massive hall was filled to the brim, and over-flowed to the expansive lawn of the centre.
The party's captivating montage mixed with tunes in Nigeria's major dialects blared to high pitch, to the gyration of the mammoth gathering of party faithfuls, waiting patiently for the commencement of the "fiesta".
Anxiety rose when at about2pmthe host, Governor Willie Maduabuchi Obiano, APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh and other party stalwarts had not turned up.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates have started again to manipulate the system in Anambra state as the list for its senatorial candidates is missing at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Awka.
INEC released the list of Anambra State candidates for the February 2015 National Assembly polls, with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates.
Political parties whose National Assembly candidates were pasted at the entrance gate of the state headquarters of INEC, Awka, include the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Congress (APC), National Congress Party (NCP), and United Progressives Party (UPP).
Others are Citizens Popular Party (CPP), Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), Peoples Democratic Congress (PDC), and Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), among others.
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, did not present his academic qualifications to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, even as he prepares for the 2015 presidential contest. Unlike his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, counterpart, President Goodluck Jonathan, whose academic certificates were conspicously displayed by the commission upon presentation, Buhari’s credentials were visibly without trace at the commission’s office at Area 10, Abuja. The former Head of State, explained in an affidavit he deposed, which he submitted to the commission that all his academic credentials were with the Secretary, Military Board.
The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Jumoke Akinjide, says the people of Lagos State should blame the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) for the heavy traffic motorists face every day. She said when Buhari was the Head of State between December 1983 and August 1985, he terminated the Lagos Metroline project initiated by the Alhaji Lateef Jakande administration to ease traffic in the metropolis. Akinjide said this in a statement on Monday. She said by so doing, Buhari truncated the opportunity of a free-flow of traffic within the metropolis and by extension, the economic growth of the South-West. She said the countries that were nowhere near the growth attained by the South-West when the APC presidential candidate stopped Metroline project had since advanced to become world economic powers.
Nigeria’s ex-warlord, Mr. Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, is emerging the undisputed strongman of Delta State politics.
He has further demonstrated his political influence, having virtually nominated the running mate to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta state, various news reports said.
Tompolo’s nominee is Kingsley Otuaro, a lawyer and commissioner at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) and a member of the ethnic Ijaw like Tompolo.
Although Otuaro’s name has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) just on time to beat the Boxing Day deadline, his emergence dislocated political calculations in the state, with Isoko ethnic minority disturbed that Tompolo stole a ticket that ought to be theirs, automatically.

All is not well with the reelection campaign plan of President Goodluck Jonathan in the north.
A good number of prominent northern politicians and public officers are turning down offers to play leading roles in his campaign ahead of the February 2015 election.
The development, The Nation learnt, is stalling the composition of the president’s campaign teams in that part of the country.
His campaign in the north has also not been able to match that of General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the north in terms of poster and bill boards’ display.
A party source admitted that Jonathan’s re-election bid is on the low in the north because of lack of action and information of the candidate.
The source, a chieftain of the party in Lagos State, said that many politicians from the north are cautious of being identified with Jonathan.
He said: “There are a lot of issues surrounding his candidacy as it affects northern interests and desire. This is keeping his associates and friends here in check,” a Kaduna-born former minister told The Nation.
After a long year, actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki has proceeded on a one month vacation starting from December 20.
akiThis was revealed in a statement by his publicist, Media Image Maker. “Mr. Chinedu Ikedieze a.k.a Aki has shut down for the year till late January 2015. It was a rather long and successful year for the star and so, he has to take a break and go on vacation with his family.”
The statement, however, did not disclose the country where Aki is going to spend his vacation. But speculation is rife that he’s probably heading to the United States or the Bahamas.
Aki’s last official outing this year before he proceeded on vacation was the wedding event of president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Ibinabo Fiberisima, on Saturday, December 20 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He jetted out immediately after the wedding. “There is no way he would have missed the wedding of Ibinabo who he had enjoyed a robust relationship with over the years, so he built it into his rather tight schedule.”
THE immediate past governor of Ekiti State,Dr.Kayode Fayemi, yesterday hit back at his successor, Governor Ayo Fayose ,warning him against using falsehood as a tool of governance.
Fayemi who was responding for the first time to allegations levelled at him by Fayose said that the deployment of deceit as an official policy of administration would not help the government in any way.
He challenged the governor to probe him if he was sure that he (Fayemi) plundered the state of its resources . “If they have anything against me let them institute a probe, I am ready for it,” he said.
He cited the allegation that he left an N85billion debt behind as one of such lies. Fayemi said that all total debt at the time of his exit was N35billion. He spoke on Akure, Ondo State-based radio station, ADABA 88.9 FM, Friday evening.
