They spoke on a day Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State accused President Jonathan of not releasing the audit report of the missing $20 billion crude oil fund because the report allegedly indicted some of his loyalists.
In his address at a public lecture on corruption, with the theme: “The bane of our society” organised by Amicus International Club of Ilorin, Justice Akanbi said people now accept bribes with impunity because nothing is being done about corruption.
Corruption is escalating.
A former Minister of Petroleum, Prof. Tam David-West, has warned Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo against inflammatory statements on the presidential election. Asari-Dokubo said at the weekend that Jonathan had already won the election. He said he did not owe anyone an apology for the comment. The ex-minister told The Nation yesterday that Asari-Dokubo’s statement suggested that they knew Jonathan would rig the election. He warned that any attempt to rig the poll would plunge Nigeria into trouble because the world was expecting a free and fair election. David-West said Nigerians knew the difficulties the country was going through, adding that they wanted a change.

Mr Abdulkadri Abdulsalam, the National Chairman, Labour Party, on Tuesday said that the party had not endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections.
Abdulsalam, who gave the clarification in an interview in Abuja, said the rumour had gone viral on social media.
He said the rumours had no base or truth.
“The party has not endorsed anybody; if we want to endorse anyone as a presidential candidate, we must hold a convention where we will collectively and democratically agree.
“No credible candidate has spoken with us for endorsement; the information going round that we have endorsed Jonathan must be considered as rumour.
President Goodluck Jonathan has said that Nigerians will appreciate the good works he has done for the country after he has left office.

The compassionate Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano once again showed his humane side today when he stopped his convoy to commiserate with some victims of an auto crash along the Awka Etiti - Iseke, Express way.
The accident which involved a Mercedes Benz 230 salon and a Toyota Corolla with the sign of a learner was somewhat miraculous as no one was hurt in spite of the terrible shape of the vehicles after the collision.
In a move reminiscent of his recent rescue of an accident victim in Onitsha, Governor Obiano ordered his convoy to pull over and quickly moved to the crash scene to lend a hand.
On discovering that no one was hurt, the Governor heaved a sigh of relief and ordered his men to take them to a nearby hospital for basic checks after saying some soothing words to them.
