Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, declared on Thursday that no one should vote for the continuation of President Goodluck Jonathan’s government, saying that there has been a total failure in leadership. He said he has sixty reasons not to vote for the Jonathan regime.
“I will not vote and I will not encourage anyone to vote for the
continuation of this government, simply because your colleagues
numbering over two hundred were kidnapped, ” Soyinka told students at
the 2015 edition of Vision of the Child (VOTC), a yearly programme
inaugurated in 2012.
He said the Chibok girls kidnapped on 14 April of last year were sent
on a mission to acquire an education, but ended up being kidnapped.
“And the government of this nation failed to show leadership. So
anyone who says after that event that I will vote or cast my vote or
encourage anyone to vote for this regime must be living in Sambisa
forest,” Soyinka said, referring to a forest in Borno State where the
Chibok girls are believed to be held by Boko Haram.
The member representing Anaocha, Njikoka/Dunkofia Federal
constituency Honourable Uche Ekwunife, has solicited the support of traditional
rulers to mobilize the electorates to collect their Permanent Voter Cards
(PVC) ahead of february general elections
She stated this in her campaign tour to the palaces of the
traditional rulers of Neni kingdom, Adazi Enu, Ichida Kingdom, and Agulu-Ezigbo
inAnaocha Local Government Area of
Anambra state, stressedthe need for traditional
rulers to lead the sensitization project by informing their people through holding regular town hall
meetings and using other notable means of passing the message in the language
the electorates would understand.
A
melodrama reminiscent of Nollywood theatrics ensued over the weekend
along Onitsha-Awka end of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway by Nawfia, when
the political campaign convoy of Mrs. Ekwunife ran for cover to avoid
possible arrest for illegal campaign and breach of the peace in Anambra
State.
Ekwunife’s
convoy which was en-route Awka after campaign stops in near-by towns
turned and ran on citing heavy presence of security personnel by the
Nawfia axis on the Expressway.
The
event which took place along the busy Onitsha-Awka end of the busy
Expressway drew the attention of the villagers who suddenly noticed many
cars in the Ekwunife convoy making a quick U-turn and running back to
Awkuzu while one of the cars carrying Mrs. Ekwunife veered into the
near-by village route to avoid detection on citing the blockade of the
road by security personnel trying to quell an altercation by some Nawfia
residents laying claims to the parcel of land where the burrow pit is
located.

When
Governor Willie Obiano took over the leadership of the All Progressive
Grand Alliance (APGA) as the Chairman BoT and National Leader, on December 17
last year, he quoted the Italian Renaissance man, Michelangelo, to his
fellow party men and women. In a powerful emotional voice, Obiano said;
“the greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and
we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” The tremendous
resurgence of APGA since this ambitious statement has since shown that
Governor Obiano knew exactly what he was saying.

Oh
dear Lord! Why aren't these world powers trying to eliminate ISIS once
& for all? The 27 year old Jordanian pilot who was captured by ISIS
militants after his warplane crashed while he was conducting airstrikes
over Syria in December 2014, has been killed in the most despicable
manner.
The terrorists released a video today showing the brutal
murder of Lieutenant Moaz al-Kasasbeh. He was burnt alive while locked
in a cage. The Jordanian military believe he was killed on Jan. 3rd.
In the footage titled 'Healing the Believers Chest', the militants pour
petrol on Moaz, who's wearing an orange jumpsuit, and set him alight.
He was burnt alive within minutes.

My
attention has been drawn to statements credited to the Minister of
Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala, in response to my latest article and call for a
structured debate on the issues. According to the report, she no longer
wants to join issues with me. In the circumstance of the moment, I
therefore withhold parts two and three of my promised three-part
response.
