The Nigeria Army at the Rukuba Barracks in Jos, Plateau State, has dismissed about 200 soldiers from service for their failure to capture the Sambisa Forest, a notorious hideout for Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
They were dismissed for laxity and cowardice in the course of duty.
One of the affected soldiers, Aguloye Sunday, an indigene of Ondo State, who confirmed the dismissal to journalists in Jos, said they were arraigned on a two-count charge of “failure to perform military duty and disobedience to standing order.”
He, however, argued that they would seek redress in court as the charges pressed against him and his colleagues were “untrue, false and malicious.”
The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has accused outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan of deliberate plot to hinder the smooth take off of the incoming government of Muhammadu Buhari.
Citing the current energy crisis engulfing the nation due to scarcity of petroleum products nationwide following alleged Federal Government’s indebtedness to various groups, the ACF lamented that, “Nigerians do not deserve such a parting gift from Jonathan after he has earned himself a global applause for statesmanship.”

It is no longer news that the 2015 general elections has united Nigerians especially northerners, who had never voted in the same pattern. For the first time since independence, northern Christians and Muslims voted perhaps for the same party and presidential candidate. Some of us (northern Muslims) had given up hope of seeing a united north as envisioned by the late sage, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto. However, the 2015 elections has rekindled our hope that in our life time, Sardauna‘s dreams is a reality.
Muhammudu Buhari’s goodwill united northerners. This is why Engineer Buba Galadima, Senator Saidu Dansadau and many other people have voiced their concerns over attempts to scheme out northern Christians from holding one of the presiding positions of the National Assembly.
President Jonathan took group pictures with his Ministers, Council Secretariat members and State House press corps after the Valedictory Session of the Federal Executive Council at the State House Abuja today May 27th.
President Goodluck Jonathan has asked President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari not to single out his administration for probe. The president said this in his speech at the Valedictory session of the Federal Executive Council at the State House in Abuja.
Jonathan said that a lot of things had gone wrong in the country which were all ascribed to his administration, adding that his administration had done well in spite of the criticisms.
He said; “Some people are even calling for the probe of the government.
“I agree that in Nigeria there are a number of things that will be probed; very many things; even debts owed by the states and debts owed by this nation from 1960.
“Up to this time they say it is the Jonathan administration that owes all these debts.
“And I believe that anybody calling for probe must also ensure that this probe is extended beyond the Jonathan administration.
