1. It is with great pleasure that I receive you and your team today on this very happy event,marking more than a year in which no polio case was reported in our country.
2. For 14 consecutive months,Nigeria has not recorded any new case of polio virus. This, as I had been briefed, is the first step towards certification of Nigeria as
polio virus free country by WHO in the next two years.
3. This achievement, I recall, also resonated at the 70th UN General Assembly when the Director-General of WHO, Dr. Margaret Chan, mentioned it. I therefore commend WHO for their consistent stewardship in Global Health Security

The River State House of Assembly Election Tribunal has nullifies the election of the state speaker, Owaji Ibani and twenty other PDP members of the house.Delivering its judgment at the Election Tribunal in Abuja, the tribunal in its wisdom held that the state election was marred with irregularities in some local government areas where elections held and concluded that there were no substantial evidence to declare the respondents winner in the said election.

Embattled Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he remains the governor of the oil-rich state, despite the conspiracy of the ruling party and the election tribunal in Abuja.
Governor Wike made the declaration today, while addresing a crowd of party supporters at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
The governor who was accompanied by his deputy, Ipalibo Banigo, and other high ranking party officials of the Peoples Democratic Party, said his legal training did not allow him criticize the ruling of a judge, saying that the verdict given by the tribunal was not God’s ruling.
“By my training I am not supposed to criticize any Judge for his opinions, but I have to say that the tribunal has given its verdict, but we know by the special grace of God, it is not God’s verdict,” he said.

Tribunal Nullifies Nyeson Wike's Election As Governor of Rivers State
The Rivers State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has nullified the election of Barrister Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State.The tribunal held in it judgment the petition of the appellate applicant, Honourable Dakuku Peterside, who prayed that the state election was marred with irregularities and in many local government areas of the state did not witness movement of polling materials, talk less of having elections conducted in the LGAs.
